A new approach to old ways

"Green Foot Prints" I absolutely dislike wearing shoes, period. As soon as the snow is gone, so are the shoes. My feet take on a green patina that requires some effort to remove. After running the weed eater for a few hours, and no shoes in sight, I came inside for some juice and heard a loud shrilling voice "there are green foot prints on the kitchen floor!!!" I did some editing.

I have been studying gardening, market gardening, self-sustainability, and of course Gene Logsdon. I have come to the conclusion that I need to take my gardening, chicken obsession, and rabbit guardianship to the next level and get serious about it. I do believe producing our food, ourselves, is not only necessary (especially at these times) but also producing our own food for ourselves is just about mandatory today.

The spiritual connection to the commercially produced food we eat, is nearly lost. Fast food, microwave ovens, and little debbie treats have replaced the hardened hands from hours of kneading bread. The steaming loaf fresh from the oven, and the melted butter on that fresh piece of bread have been replaced by wonder bread and 40% vegetable oil "lite and fat free for the heart." The local food movement has finally been given the opportunity to provide more people with fresh, safe, local food; I believe as a result saving that spiritual connection we all need. Even if you do not produce your own food, you can have a friendship with the people who do.

Coming soon... Potatoes.
